Shriya Saran's oomphy image is so overpowering that it almost overshadows the consistent work she has been doing in film industries across the country in six languages.
The actress was recently honoured with an award for her contribution to Telugu cinema, but it's her link-ups that make headlines.
In fact, we too couldn't resist asking what's really up with her and RaNa? "The media started it all. I've known him since he was in school. I've known him and his family for more than eight years. I respect the family. RaNa and I are not dating."
Ask her about the award and she says, "I am humbled by the honour because filmmaking is a team effort. I always make it a point to thank all those great scriptwriters who create the characters actors play; then, there are directors and cameramen who bring the character to life and it's left to the actors to put soul into the character."

Actress Shriya is smiling and there's a sense of calmness in her these days, that's the kind of effect yoga and vipaasana meditation has on her.
And this probably explains why the actress was surprised when we asked her if she was miffed with the way her role turned out in the recently-released Chikku Bhukku, as some reports suggested.
Stated the actress, "Why should I be unhappy or upset? I saw the movie and I'm happy with it. I have no hard feelings!"
Meanwhile, Shriya is now in Chennai to shoot for her next film Rowthiram with Jiiva. "I have started shooting for the film from yesterday and I think the shoot will go on until the end of this month," she reveals.
It looks like Shriya, who has just returned from Dubai after shooting for Casanova with Mammootty, has a jam-packed calendar this month.

In Telugu, she is doing an item number for the fifth time and it is reported that she is being paid a bomb for this special cameo

For most people, Shirya Saran is the dream girl. But who is the dream girl of Shriya? She isnone other than yesteryears bollywood beauty Hema Malini. Speaking about Hema malini, shriya says that she loves her voice and her class. She further said, "I want to become like Hema malini and I will reach that stage one day or other".

So, how was the experience? “It was wonderful. I was staying with many others in a camp and that too, in the middle of a jungle. I used to wake up early in the morning and practise all forms of asanas,” she says. According to the pretty lass, yoga and meditation keep her going. “Yoga keeps my mind fresh, and pumps the muchneeded energy into me. It also helps me relieve tension,” she says. The buzz doing the rounds these days is that after their lip-lock scene in Kandasamy, Shriya Saran has been in constant touch with her co-actor Vikram over phone and they chat for long hours, so much so her phone bills are sky rocketing!
Denying these rumours, Shriya clarified that firstly, the scene is not really a ‘lip-lock’ and secondly, she wouldn’t want to talk about it. Ahem! But yes, this damsel had a lot to talkabout Vikram. “Oh! he’s a darling. It is a pleasure to work with him. I always had 10 things that I could never do but now, he’s changed the same list to the 10 things I can do,” she gushes. “He is my mentor,” she adds.
Rewinding, she spoke about Rajinikanth who she admires a lot for the kind of human being he is. “Simplicity is his style and he’s a miracle,” said the actress who will also be seen in Deepa Mehta’s What’s Cooking, Stella? She plays the role of a servant in the movie. She is in complete awe of Deepa and calls her an actor’s director. Shriya's upward graph has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for yet another northbeauty who came in with a flop but slowly and surely she found her way into the hearts of the southern audience. She is none other than Kajal Agarwal.
Since Shriya has been busy with her projects in the north and internationally, her absence is being filled by Kajal and sources say that what used to be Shriya's position about four years ago, it is now the position of Kajal and the enticing beauty has been cashing in on her stand with equal smartness and sweet looks.

Shriya doesn’t disappoint her fans as she is showing off her hot bod in a very skimpy outfit. Shriya, though known for posing in glamorous outfits this is something different from what she regularly does. Interestingly, Shriya these days is insisting directors from the South to come up with weighty roles that wouldn’t need any skin show. But what she posed for Maxim cameras is completely different from that.

With an appearance in Mission Istanbul, Shriya Saran is finally being recognized in Bollywood for her flexibility and hard work over the last few years. Her career is now expected to move into the Red Hot Zone.
She started her career with a bang in Santosham in 2002, opposite Nagarjuna. She received her first award in 2005 when she won the Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award forChatrapathi. She also won the Best Hindi Female Debut Award for her role as Aaliya inAwaarapan in 2007. However, she really hit the big time with last year's groundbreaking movie Sivaji. Her star status was confirmed when the Hindu Makkal Katchi morality squad reported her to the police for wearing a clinging outfit at the celebrations for the movie.
But Shriya is very flexible and also works well in the English language - she's currently in two movies: What's Cooking and The Other End of the Line, which costars Jesse Metcalfe with whom, rumour has it, she is romantically linked.
How does Shriya feel about acting? "I love to do challenging and performance-oriented films if the offers come my way. I was lucky enough to get such roles quite early. I have proved that I can carry off well both in glamorous and performance-oriented films."

‘Enakku 20 Unakku 18’ (2003) marked her debut in Tamil. She was cast along with Telugu actor Tarun, Trisha Krishnan. Trisha, another top south Indian actress is a good friend of Shriya.
She is a good actress But she doesn't good manners. Recently in a function she dressed in a fashion which was very exposive to the core. She looks so beautiful in saree as you see in the above pic then why this change in costume in front of big bosses. She can wear these costumes in flims and for personal use but not in front of public. This shows her immaturity
It is a known fact that Shirya is acting in a Hollywood movie “The other end of the line” opposite desperate housewives star Jesse Metcalfe. The current buzz is that Shriya wassupposed to appear in a semi nude scene where she appears topless. Shriya strongly objected to this scene and hence the unit has decided to use a body double.

A major part of the film has been shot in Delhi, Mumbai and Singapore in the last couple of months. Ashok Amritraj is co-producing the film with Patrick Aiello in association with Adlabs and their American associate MGM.
Appealing appearance is good but one has to follow the dress code considering the occasion. If Shriya doesn’t find fault with her costumes earlier probably now she will!
Meanwhile Shriya is busy shedding few kilos for her Bollywood and Hollywood assignments. Shriya who is slick and slim all the time feels that she need to look as skinny as Bips and Mallika to draw the attention of audience over there.
Needless to say that it is the New Year resolution of Shriya!

Many actresses feared losing prime roles when they were approached for a guest role alongside Vadivelu in Indralogathil Na Azhagappan . But Shriya accepted it immediately. This not only shows her self-confidence but also her admiration for comedy actors. It is commendable for a heroine to gain this quantum of fame in such a short time. Galatta.com wishes her many more top roles opposite top heroes in many more films!

But all the young heroines who were approached refused the role. Sneha had initially agreed, but backed out later. Simran, Padmapriya and Vimala Raman were also considered, but nothing worked out. Now the buzz doing the round is that Tabu has agreed to play Shriya’s mom but for a whopping 75 Lakhs. If this news is confirmed, this will be the first time a mom character has been paid such a huge amount.

Some street romeos, unaware that she is already hot property in Bollywood, try to harrow the actress with wolf whistles and comments like, “Sexy ho, Bollywood ki rani ban sakti ho!” Shriya, of course, chews men like them up for breakfast every morning. She replies, “Dum hai na mere main!”
No doubt, the success of Sivaji... and her newfound status as a hot and sensational property in the South has made Shriya confident today. “Sivaji was Rajni’s film, but being a great man, he let me shine in it. Working with him, I learned to set myself a benchmark. Though I often ask myself — where now from here,” the actress admits. Where now, is for Bollywood to tell the talented Southern star.
Riding on Sivaji’s success, she’s bagged several projects, including some from Hollywood. In Bollywood, besides her debut film Awarapan, Shriya’s in Sangeeth Sivan’s Ek. “Films were incidental. I call it an arranged marriage. I fell in love with films after I got into the business. I was grooming to be a Kathak dancer when I landed in a music video. That’s how it began,” she says. On the Hollywood front, Shriya has wrapped up Ashok Amritraj’s The Other End of the Line opposite Canadian actor Jesse Metcalfe. And how has Deepa Mehta’s What’s Cooking to look forward to.
Now that she is in Bollywood, Shriya’s big ambition is to star opposite Amitabh Bachchan. She revealed, “I met him as a fan when I was about 11 and took his autograph. He was shooting in Udaipur for Khuda Gawah. Recently, I met him at an award function in Bangkok and told him that. He was amused. I told Mr Bachchan, ‘I want to work with you.’ And he replied, ‘I’m looking forward to it!’” But she doesn’t really have any favourites in Bollywood. “I am greedy. I want to work with everyone,” Shriya admits candidly.

“I’M exhausted working for Mallanna,” declares Shriya when. “Most of my films don’t take more than a month to complete. I like to work at one stretch and be done with it. I don’t like to carry on that association for too long. But with Kandasamy, I’m losing the connection because it’s been in production for more than a year,” she says. Why hasn’t she done anything big after Sivaji? “I’d love to do more Sivajis, but such films can’t be made often. I’ll be at my peak when I play more roles like Tamil Selvi,” she says.
When asked about her friends form film industry, “Trisha’s a sweetheart. Dhanush is a prankster, but fun. Reema Sen comes to Mumbai often, so we meet up. I admire Asin’s work. Nagarjuna and Tarak are in touch regularly,” she laughs. She agrees that can’t have too many friends because she finds the term overrated. “You can be friendly with people and go out for coffee with them. That’s it,” adds Shriya. Shriya, is sizzling on the cover of a men’s mag in a bikini. Another Mallika in the making? “I’ll never shy away from taking risks because you can’t get stereotyped. But I’ll never wear a bikini on screen unless it’s a Yash Raj film. You never know how you’ll be portrayed by others,” says the actress.
She says that she is single and she is happy being single. “ It’s awesome to be single. You can party; you can flirt and have so much fun,” laughs Shriya. Well, what kind of guy will you fall for? “I like guys who have made on their own and are completely passionate about what they do in life. If anyone tells me about the huge business empire that you have inherited from your dad that’s a turn-off,” said Shriya.

Shriya could not hear the requests of director and producer of the film Mallanna. Finally, theschedule also packed. Now, the director is behind Shriya to complete the patch up work. The reason for sudden change of heart of Shriya is not known. Is it due to her star status or is she really have an important work in india?

Shriya says apart from this, a good sunscreen is very important for an actor. And except for a nourishing cream at bedtime, she does not do much for her skin.
